Giants top Nats, finish April 13-13

April seemed to age all Giants fans, but a 2-1 victory over the Washington Nationals today brought the team record to 13-13 as the month concluded.

Jonathan Sanchez battled but hung tough going 5 innings yielding only 2 hits and an unearned run, striking out 7 but walking 6. Big picture, Jonathan's era is a stingy 2.73 and he kept the 2010 World Champs in position to close the deal. Jonathan is the Volcanoes Watching Alumni of the Game.

Sergio Romo got his fifth hold of the season; Buster Posey went 2-for-4 with a double; Buster played first base for the first time this season.

The club got tough news in that Pablo Sandoval will be out 4-6 weeks with a broken bone in his wrist. Volcanoes alumni Ryan Rohlinger was called up for coverage.

So the Defending World Champs will start May 4.5 games out of first and game 3 of a 4-game series at the Nationals. First pitch tomorrow is 10:35 pm PST.
