The 2010 World Champs, Giants are in an interesting place. The team has not recovered since Buster Posey's injury. Many national sports writers are questions if the Giants can pull ahead. I for one will go on record saying the Giants WILL win 3 out of 4, regain first place, and continue to their run on-top of the NL West.

Starting Tuesday this critical series sees great three Volcanoes alumni on the mound: Ryan Vogelsong, Tim Lincecum and Jonathan Sanchez.

After starting the season with Triple-A Fresno, Burriss has made the most of the opportunity with the big club and has 8 hits in 25 at-bats (.320).

Lincecum gets Giants needed win

In a week when one amazing Volcanoes alum faced a tough injury; another Volcano stepped up to help the team win.

Tim Lincecum won his fifth game of the season as the Giants pushed by the Brewers 5-4.

With the team still trying to make sense of Buster Posey's potential season-ending injury, the Giants had plenty of reasons to fold. Instead, the Champs won one for Buster and kept their NL West lead at 1.5 over Arizona. The Rockies are fading fast and sit at 24-26 in third place.

Brandon Crawford (Volcanoes '08) was the Volcanoes Watching Alumni of the Game launching a grand slam that quite honestly may have saved the Giants from a divisional free-fall. Nate Schierholtz had another clutch performance going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Sergio Romo had his 8th hold of the season.

Jonathan Sanchez is on the mound tomorrow as the Champs battle at the Brew-crew for game 2 of their critical series. Stay tuned for all the updates on your Volcanoes alumni; Volcanoes Watching - champions are here!

We stand with Buster

Volcanoes alum Buster Posey helped bring a World Championship, won the 2010 NL Rookie of the Year and has become a true ambassador of the game - a great role model.

Buster has done a lot for us; now it's time for us to step up for Buster. The next few months will require Buster's focus as he goes on the road to recovery from injuries sustained in last night's game against Florida.

Volcanoes Watching will collect your e-mail well wishes and let Buster know on-going where to visit on-line.

Send your get-well wishes to j.lacche@volcanoesbaseball.com and as many as possible will be posted on line.

Draft will open doors for future Volcanoes

Along with the glorious thrill of another Volcanoes Opening Day comes the excitement of seeing some future Volcanoes selected in the MLB First Year Player draft. The 2011 edition is June 6-8 with 50 total rounds.

The Giants first pick is #29 in the First Round then again #49 in the Comp Round A, and then #89 in the Second Round, #116 in the Third Round; #147 in the Fourth Round.

There are just as many Mock Drafts as there are draft picks out there; some growing sentiment suggests that Duck's pitcher Tyler Anderson may be a compelling pick at #29 - but for transparency - no inside information here.

Stay tuned for complete draft coverage and remember nothing says fantasy baseball more than spending time with family and friends and a Volcanoes game. Volcanoes baseball - champions start here!

Volcanoes help Giants sweep A's

Oakland may be the home of "Moneyball" but the Giants proved that nothing tops Volcanoes Nation.

Volcanoes alum, Emmanuel Burris singled home Darren Ford in the bottom of the 11th to give the 2010 World Champs a thrilling 5-4 victory and the three-game sweep.

The Giants now are 8-games over .500 at 27-19 and have a 3.5 game lead over the Rockies in the NL West.

Even starting pitching Jonathan Sanchez had a hit and pitched 6 great innings allowing only 1 run on five hits and striking out five.

Lincecum, complete game, shut out, awesome!

Covering Tim Lincecum makes any sports writer's job easy. The Volcanoes alumni was simply untouchable tonight, throwing a complete-game shut out against the Oakland A's.

The win further pushes Tim in the running for what would be his third NL Cy Young Award in his young and brilliant career.

The final line in the 2010 World Champs 3-0 win had Tim throwing 133 pitches, striking out 6 and walking not a single A's player.

The victory - this statement game- pushing the Giants to a 26-19 record and a 2.5 game lead in the NL West, their largest lead of the young season.

Jonathan Sanchez, the third Volcanoes player to start this series, takes the mound tomorrow to look to help the Champs sweep the Battle of the Bay. Stay tuned to Volcanoes Watching for all the details -- Volcanoes baseball - champions start here!

Pending the results of Thursday game against the Dodgers, the Giants are 23-19 - but consider this, 27 of the games so far have been on the road.

No rest on the calendar - Giants at Dodgers

The 2010 World Champion, Giants look to snap out of a recent funk and get some needed wins against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Champs sit at 22-19 and now are 1/2 game behind the Rockies who play at Philadelphia.

The Giants got good news about Volcanoes alumn Pablo Sandoval who is on the 15-day DL with a wrist injury. Pablo picked up a bat and did some minor swinging earlier in the week; for context, the Panda still leads the Giants with 5 home runs so is obviously a needed source of power in the line up.

But it's a long season, and health is at a premium. Stay tuned tomorrow as the Giants look to retake first place. Volcanoes Watching - champions start here!
