Panik's triple sparks Scoprions; Burg leads home runs down under

Joe Panik's (Volcanoes '11) two-RBI, triple proved the difference at the Scottsdale Scorpions topped Salt River tonight 6-5. Joe's AFL batting average now sits at a team-leading .321. The Scorpions improved to 14-19.

Another Volcanoes alumni currently batting .321 is Alex Burg (Volcanoes '10), who, playing for the Perth Heat leads the Australian Baseball League with 4 home runs in 7 games (only 28 at-bats). Alex is coming off a strong season with the San Jose Giants, where the catcher batted .298 with 14 home runs and 45 RBI in 296 plate appearances. Alex is an alumnus of Washington State University.
