Volcanoes alumns spend Christmas in first place

One of the great achievements in the on-going development of affiliated Winter Leagues is that multiple Volcanoes alums get to spend this Christmas in first place and fighting for a pennant.

Spring Training great chance to see most Volcanoes alumns in action

Spring Training is a fan favorite for multiple reasons: first signs of spring, the promise of what might be -- it also gives Volcanoes Nation a chance to see the largest collection of Volcanoes prospects together playing for the Giants in exhibition games.

We are about 94 days away from the start of Spring Training games and the Giants have their schedule set: click here to see exhibition home dates for those heading down to Arizona. The Giants have focused on retaining their core pitching staff, giving position players a chance to rise within the organization. There will also be a great story line of Buster Posey (Volcanoes '10) making his return after a season-ending injury in 2011.

For those who follow draft prospects, the college season kicks off a month earlier in February. There are multiple sites to follow including OSU Beaver Baseball, Oregon Ducks Baseball, and Northwest Community College Baseball.

Happy holidays from Volcanoes Watching -- Volcanoes baseball, where Giants dreams begin.

Thanks and Happy Holidays from your Volcanoes

To all of Volcanoes Nation: happy holiday season from your Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. You're the best fans in Minor League Baseball and have been a critical part of past Volcanoes pennant winners; the strong homefield advantage our players enjoy; building one of the strongest professional baseball teams in Oregon history; and yes, you were part of building a World Champion.

These past seasons, you have also used baseball to come together as a community, welcome new fans to the area (our friends of the Portland Beavers and other teams), and showed amazing energy and loyalty at a time when tough economic times have challenged us all to spend wisely and be there for our neighbors.

Under the leadership of Jerry Walker, the Volcanoes Front Office works year-round focused on innovating the fan experience while keeping the game family-friendly, affordable and fun.

You bring amazing passion of baseball, a sense of excitement and share a part of your lives with family and friends.

It's the truest form of teamwork and one that will help your Volcanoes continue to thrive.

Thank you, happy holidays and best wishes.

Burg, Lamb work to keep Perth tops in Australia

Alex Burg (Volcanoes'10) and Cameron Lamb (Volcanoes '11) are back in action December 3 as the Perth Heat resume play in the Australian Baseball League. At 11-0, the Heat are off to a historic start in the ABL and are well-positioned to return to the playoffs after their 40-game regular season ends.

What Burg and Lamb are helping the Heat accomplish in Australia is giving that country a taste of what a top franchise means to fans; the Heat won the title last season (the first since the re-birth of the ABL); got off to their record start and also played three Asian League champions very tough in last week's Asian Series.

The result has not only been strong growth in attendance but international recognition - all of which has made this MLB-sanctioned league show up on the radar of baseball executives and players who next year, may choose Australia as the place to play during the off-season.

Stay tuned for more updates on Alex and Cameron; Volcanoes baseball - where Giants dreams begin.
