Lucky number 13! Perth wins ABL title again in extra innings

In a game of inches, the Perth Heat found a way to repeat their the ABL title, and with it, two championship rings for Volcanoes alumni and another for the team skipper from Corvallis, Oregon.

Perth rebounded from a 3-0 deficit to top Melbourne 7-6 in 13 innings, the second 13-inning playoff game for both teams the last 24 hours. 

Cameron Lamb (Volcanoes '11) finished a very strong season; one of the best overseas relief performances this entire winter. Click here for the ABL write up and official championship picture.

Cameron finished with a 5-1 record, 1.57 ERA and 13.1 consecutive innings without yielding an earned run.

Alex Burg (Volcanoes '10) finished batting .277 with 10 home runs and 23 RBI; Alex had a .374 on-base percentage.

Skipper, Brooke Knight, a Corvallis native, led his team to a 34-11 regular season (.756 winning percentage) and second consecutive ABL title.

As the ABL season ended, the official start of Spring Training also began in the States with the Mariners getting the OK from MLB to start a few days early.
