Volcanoes Alumni Report: May 31, 2012

Volcanoes Opening Day in 14 days + a few hours** The six-time World Champion Giants (27-24) are back in action against the 1908 World Champion Chicago Cubs. The G-Men hung tough in May and look at June as a chance to make some distance in the Wild Card standings.

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (35-18), First Place in Division: Conor Gillaspie (Volcanoes '08) had a hit tonight as Fresno and Sacramento are tied 1-1 going into the eighth inning at time of publication.


Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (25-29), Fourth Place in Division: Gary Brown(Volcanoes '10) had two hits including a home run tonight for Richmond.

San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (32-22), First Place in Division: Joe Panik (Volcanoes '11) and Adam Duvall (Volcanoes '10) each went yard tonight for San Jose.

\Augusta (Class A): The GreenJackets (22-30), Sixth Place in Division: Mark Minicozzi(Volcanoes '05) had two more hits tonight for Augusta. Mark is in the zone hitting in 10 of 11.

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 15 days + a few hours** The six-time World Champion Giants (27-23) are again in a good battle with Arizona; irregardless of the result, the G-Men clinched the series. Stay tuned for more details.

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (35-18), First Place in Division: Conor Gillaspie (Volcanoes '08) had a hit tonight and is batting .344 for the season.


Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (25-28), Fourth Place in Division: Craig Westcott (Volcanoes '09) improved to 5-4 with a 4.10 ERA is getting a win over Altoona tonight.

San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (32-20), First Place in Division: Joe Panik (Volcanoes '11) had a single tonight for First Place San Jose.

Augusta (Class A): The GreenJackets (22-29), Sixth Place in Division: Mark Minicozzi(Volcanoes '05) had two more hits tonight for Augusta. Mark had now hit safely in nine of his last 10 games.

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 16 days + a few hours** The six-time World Champion Giants (26-23) are in a tight battle with the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight, Ryan Vogelsong (Volcanoes '98) is looking very sharp again -- now the team needs to give Ryan some runs to work with. **Volcanoes Opening Day in 17 days + a few hours** The six-time World Champion Giants (26-23) topped Arizona today 4-2; the Giants are one game back in the NL Wild Card standings. Clayton  Hensley (Volcanoes '02) earned his fifth hold of the season; Manny Burriss (Volcanoes '06) had a hit and scored a run; both teams are back in action tomorrow.

Looking around Volcanoes Nation tonight:

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (34-16), First Place in Division: Fresno goes into tonight's game with Colorado Springs in First Place in the Pacific Southern Division with a three game lead over Sacramento. The Grizzles have the best record in the Pacific Coast League - a .680 winning percentage.

Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (24-26), Fourth Place in Division: Ehire Adrianza (Volcanoes '08) has one of two Richmond hits so far as the Flying Squirrels battle Trenton.

San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (32-19), First Place in Division: Joe Panik (Volcanoes '11) had two hits and a RBI to raise his average to .259 for San Jose tonight.

Augusta (Class A): The GreenJackets (21-27) : Garrett Buechele (Volcanoes '11) has two hits in early action for Augusta.

Volcanoes Alumni Report: May 27, 2012

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 18 days + a few hours** The six-time World Champion Giants (25-23) topped Miami 3-2 today in a very hard-fought series by both teams. Buster Posey (Volcanoes '08, World Champion '10) had two hits and a RBI; Sergio Romo (Volcanoes '05, World Champion '10) earned his ninth hold and lowered his ERA to 0.61! The Giants host Arizona for a three-game set starting tomorrow.

Looking around Volcanoes Nation tonight:

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (34-16): Jackson Williams  (Volcanoes '07) hit a two-run home run in the Fresno win over Colorado City;

Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (24-26): Gary Brown  (Volcanoes '09) had a double in tonight's win over Trenton.

San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (31-17): Jack Snodgrass (Volcanoes '11) pitched six strong innings tonight, allowing only one run on three hits and striking out four.

Augusta (Class A): The GreenJackets (21-27): Mark Minicozzi  (Volcanoes '05) had a two-run double tonight for the GreenJackets.

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 20 days** The six-time World Champion Giants (24-22) fell just short as Miami won 7-6; good news is the G-Men are scoring runs more consistently and getting hits, which is the trend the team needs to improve to make the playoffs.

Tim Lincecum (Volcanoes '06, World Champion '10) took the hard-luck loss. Brandon Crawford (Volcanoes '08) had two hits and a RBI. Both squads play for the series tomorrow morning.

Volcanoes Alumni Report: May 24, 2012

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 21 days** The six-time World Champion Giants (24-21) topped the Miami Marlins tonight 14-7 (sounds like a NFC West score). Ryan Vogelsong (Volcanoes '98) got the win, improving to a 3-2 record and a stingy 2.50 ERA. Ryan has been a great story since getting called up early last season!

Brandon Crawford (Volcanoes '08) had a hit and two RBI. Buster Posey (Volcanoes '08, World Champion '10) had two hits and a RBI; Nate Schierholtz (Volcanoes '03, World Champion '10) had a hit and scored a run. Both teams are in action tomorrow.

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (32-15): Skyler Stromsmoe (Volcanoes '08, '09) had two hits again in another great Fresno performance.

Volcanoes Alumni Report: May 20, 2012

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 25 days** The six-time World Champion Giants (21-20) were topped by Oakland today 6-2 but the G-Men still won another series. Tim Lincecum (Volcanoes '06, World Champion 10) gave up four runs in four innings and struck out five.
Steven Edlefsen (Volcanoes '07) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief. Manny Burriss (Volcanoes '06) had a hit tonight. The Giants start their seven-game road trip tomorrow at the Brew Crew.

Looking around Volcanoes Nation tonight:

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (30-13): Fresno is the first team in the Giants organization to reach 30 wins. Conor Gillaspie  (Volcanoes '08 had two hits in the win.

Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (20-23): Johnny Monell  (Volcanoes '08) had three hits including a home run tonight for Richmond.

San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (28-16): Chris Lofton (Volcanoes '10) had two hits and a RBI tonight in the San Jose win.

Augusta (Class A): The GreenJackets (19-22): Joseph Staley (Volcanoes '11) had two hits tonight for the GreenJackets.

Volcanoes Alumni Report: May 19, 2012

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 26 days** The six-time World Champion Giants (21-19) were magnificent tonight, topping Oakland 4-0 and allowing only one hit. Ryan Vogelsong (Volcanoes '98) was masterful improving to 2-2 with a 2.27 ERA. The G-Men go for the sweep tomorrow.

Looking around Volcanoes Nation tonight:

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (29-13): Tyler LaTorre  (Volcanoes '06, '07) had a hit and two RBI tonight in a Fresno win.

Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (20-22): Gary Brown (Volcanoes '10) had two hits and a RBI tonight for Squirrels county.

San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (27-16): Dan Burkhart (Volcanoes '10, '11) had a two-RBI double tonight.

Augusta (Class A): The GreenJackets (19-21): Mark Minicozzi (Volcanoes '05) had two hits and three RBI for the GreenJackets.

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 27 days** The six-time World Champion Giants (19-19) are  looking for their 20th win of the season tonight against the Oakland A's. Brandon Crawford (Volcanoes '08) has a RBI hit in early action.

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (28-13): Conor Gillaspie (Volcanoes '08) again had two hits in a Fresno win tonight. Conor is batting .365 in Triple-A.

Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (20-21): Doubles tonight from, Chris Dominguez (Volcanoes '09) and Gary Brown (Volcanoes '10)

 San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (26-14): Adam Duvall (Volcanoes '10) has two hits and two RBI in early action for San Jose.

Augusta (Class A): The GreenJackets (19-20): Jeff Arnold (Volcanoes '10) had three hits in an Augusta victory tonight.

**Volcanoes Opening Day in 28 days** The six-time World Champion Giants (19-19) topped the St. Louis Cardinals tonight 7-4; Buster Posey (Volcanoes '08, World Champion '10) had two hits and a RBI; Brandon Crawford (Volcanoes '08) had two hits and drove in two. Sergio Romo (Volcanoes '05, World Champion '10) earned his sixth hold of the season. The Oakland A's visit the G-Men tomorrow in an interleague match up.

Looking around Volcanoes Nation tonight:

Fresno (Triple-A): The Grizzlies (27-13): Conor Gillaspie (Volcanoes '08) had two hits, including a home run in a Fresno win tonight.

Richmond (Double-A): The Flying Squirrels (20-20): In a thrilling 1-0, 14-inning Richmond win, Jose Flores (Volcanoes '07, 08) had two hits.

San Jose (Advanced-A): The SJ Giants (26-14): Adam Duvall (Volcanoes '10) and Luke Anders (Volcanoes '09) each have San Jose home runs in early action.
